Overview of Waste

All waste generated by Hsin Tung Yang during its operations is 100% non-hazardous waste. Waste categories include general industrial waste, food processing sludge, mixtures of animal bones and residues (food waste), waste plastic packaging materials, waste cardboard boxes, and waste metal cans. All waste generated by Hsin Tung Yang is handled in strict compliance with regulatory requirements and is properly disposed of by qualified waste collection and treatment contractors to ensure that the waste management process complies with environmental protection and applicable regulatory requirements.

Hsin Tung Yang promotes reduction from the source and follows the circular economy: from the product design stage, it prioritizes the use of recycled packaging materials and raw materials carrying environmental labels, and in waste disposal it advances innovative waste-reuse technologies. From raw material selection and use through to waste disposal, it makes every effort to reduce potential environmental impacts, cutting resource waste while also lowering the cost of unnecessary packaging materials.

Promotion of Environmentally Friendly Packaging Design	Since 2018, Hsin Tung Yang’s premium pineapple cake packaging has eliminated PET inner liners, reducing the use of 3.628 million PET inner liners annually and a total reduction of 4.72 metric tons of PET consumption.
Surplus Food Ingredient Reuse	Surplus food ingredients generated during meat production at the factory are collected periodically and donated to the Department of Social Welfare, which then distributes them to community meal service sites. The cumulative donations have reached 7,154 kg, with a total value of approximately NT$2.57 million.
On-Site Reuse of Waste Plastics	Waste plastic packaging materials are recovered and reused to make plastic bags and plastic pallets for in-plant use.
