Hsin Tung Yang Pork Floss Academy: Handcrafted Offerings Made with Heart

The journey commenced with Hsin Tung Yang’s signature "Pork Floss Academy" workshop. Guided by seasoned mentors, the children learned to master heat control and patiently stir-fry the pork floss, experiencing firsthand the craftsmanship and precision that go into every batch. Upon completion, they proudly brought their freshly made, artisanal pork floss to Taipei Xia-Hai City God Temple as a unique birthday offering. During the visit, they gained an up-close appreciation of traditional deity robe embroidery and the ceremonial parade heritage of the deity’s protectors, Generals Xie and Fan.

The exchange also carried heartfelt warmth: the youth brought Yilan’s famous ox-tongue biscuits to share, while Hsin Tung Yang Foundation team members gifted Dadaocheng delicacies—including cheesecake, savory sticky rice, maltose candy, and festival-limited salted protective buns (salty-guang biscuits)—celebrating human connection through cultural flavors.

Teacher Lin from Hsing-Fu Children's Home shared that the children enjoyed the experience wholeheartedly, feeling genuinely embraced, supported, and loved. Hsin Tung Yang team members also noted that moving beyond traditional classroom lectures to stroll together like family, share stories, and handcraft offerings to honor the deity proved to be the most authentic way to bridge hearts and build confidence for their journey ahead.
