Hsin Tung Yang: Taiwan's First Food Manufacturer to Achieve Dual Traceability Certification Rigorous Oversight for Food Safety and Sustainability
Across global food safety monitoring practices, end-to-end traceability and proactive risk management throughout production, processing, and distribution have become essential industry benchmarks. Food safety is a fundamental baseline, and consumers have the right to know where their food originates. In response, Hsin Tung Yang adopted the Taiwan Agriculture Product (TAP) Traceability framework.
The TAP traceability system sets rigorous standards based on the agricultural, fishery, and livestock characteristics established by agricultural research institutions. Beyond tracing source farms and regulating agricultural chemicals and veterinary drugs, TAP requires mandatory annual audits conducted by accredited third-party certification bodies. These audits evaluate production sites, chemical safety, material usage, facility hygiene, equipment maintenance, and personnel health protocols. By addressing operational risks across all production stages to safeguard consistent quality, the TAP system integrates food safety, environmental sanitation, and sustainable production principles.
Transparent Production: From Farm to Table
To give consumers complete peace of mind and enhance "farm-to-table" transparency, Hsin Tung Yang has built an integrated tracking system spanning every stage of food production and sales. Supported by internal Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and a dedicated private cloud infrastructure, Hsin Tung Yang became the first food manufacturer in Taiwan to simultaneously earn both TAP Agricultural Traceability and Processed Food Distribution Traceability certifications.
This dual system ensures complete transparency across breeding, slaughtering, factory processing, and retail for signature products such as sausages and pork jerky. By making food safety visible and verifiable, the brand deepens consumer trust, fulfills corporate social responsibility and accountability, and establishes itself as a leader in sustainable food manufacturing.
As early as 2007, Hsin Tung Yang partnered with the Department of Commerce (Ministry of Economic Affairs) and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to pioneer a dual-traceability framework covering raw material sourcing, manufacturing, processing, and distribution, providing consumers with verifiable tracking data and safeguarding food safety.
Key Benefits of the Traceability System
Eliminating Counterfeits & Protecting Safety: Prevents substandard goods from entering the market to protect consumer health.
Optimizing Workflows & Enhancing Quality: Refines manufacturing procedures to maintain high product standards.
Building a Transparent Value Chain: Connects upstream and downstream partners into an open, verifiable supply ecosystem.
Empowering Consumers with Clear Data: Delivers accessible product origins for greater purchase confidence.
Leading Industry-Wide Food Safety Standards: Sets an operational benchmark to encourage broader industry adoption of sustainable safety practices.
