Ahead of the 2025 Mid-Autumn Festival, the Mai's Hsin Tung Yang Foundation invited children from the Guardian Association to the Hsin Tung Yang Dihua 100 store for a hands-on mooncake-making charity workshop. The initiative went beyond enjoying festive pastries, offering the youth a meaningful opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage behind the holiday.

Guided jointly by Hsin Tung Yang's R&D specialists and the Dihua 100 store manager, the workshop introduced fundamental pastry-making techniques. Alumni from past foundation programs returned as youth teaching assistants, providing peer mentorship to guide younger participants step by step. The children immersed themselves in kneading dough, wrapping fillings, and pressing the pastries into traditional molds. Curious questions arose throughout the session: "What is lotus seed paste made of?" and "Aren't lotus seeds bitter?" In response, R&D staff provided real-time explanations about the ingredients, fostering patience and focus through experiential learning while cultivating an early appreciation for food origins.

To deepen cultural understanding while the mooncakes baked, the Foundation organized an interactive Mid-Autumn trivia session. Engaging questions and discussions sparked the children’s interest in festival folklore, allowing them to connect with local traditions in a fun and welcoming setting. When the freshly baked mooncakes emerged from the oven, the room filled with excitement. One child proudly remarked, "I'm going to take these home to share with my family!" Creating something from scratch and sharing the joy with loved ones embodied the true warmth of the festive season.
