In the summer of 2023, the Mai's Hsin Tung Yang Foundation organized a 100-person coastal cleanup at Badouzi in Keelung, driving environmental awareness and marine conservation through direct action. The initiative received enthusiastic participation across the organization—including the General Manager, executive leadership, employees, and their families—alongside children from the Xingfu Children's Home, the Taiwan Adventist Foundation, and partner agency Dentsu X, creating a collaborative conservation event that united internal teams and community partners.

Hsin Tung Yang encourages employees and their families to engage in outdoor activities to support physical and mental well-being while contributing to community welfare. Each summer, the Foundation invites children from the Xingfu Children's Home to participate in hands-on activities and on-site briefings, deepening their environmental awareness. By clearing marine debris, participants actively restored the local shoreline, protected marine ecosystems, and confronted the realities of ocean pollution, inspiring individual habit changes that support long-term marine protection.

The event opened with an environmental education and waste-sorting session, exploring marine ecosystems, plastic pollution, and biodiversity conservation through visual media, storytelling, and real-world case studies. During the 100-person cleanup, adults and children worked side by side to clear debris and plastic waste from the beach. Witnessing the scale of ocean pollution firsthand prompted participants to reflect on human environmental impact and explore practical ways to reduce daily ecological harm.

Beyond the beach cleanup, instructors from the Chaojing Intelligent Ocean Center (i OCEAN) guided participants through hands-on coral restoration work. As vital foundations of marine biodiversity, coral reefs face severe threats from environmental degradation and climate change. Through this restoration initiative, participants contributed directly to helping corals propagate and revitalizing coastal marine life.

For lunch, Guanxi Zhen Hao Shi collaborated with Mai Ji BBQ (Qingcheng Branch) to present a specially curated dining experience. Executive Chef Yang Sheng-min and his culinary team prepared fresh Hakka dishes on-site at the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology (NMMST). Integrating sustainability into mealtime, organizers encouraged participants to bring their own reusable tableware, minimizing waste while enjoying a wholesome meal.

The annual coastal cleanup serves as both ecological education and a platform for youth empowerment, encouraging children to express their perspectives and build confidence through active sharing. Guided by the philosophy of "learning through play," the Foundation aims to inspire lasting environmental awareness in both adults and youth, showing that small daily choices can lead to substantial positive impacts.

This coastal initiative reflects Hsin Tung Yang's commitment to corporate social responsibility. Moving forward, the Foundation will continue organizing environmental initiatives, inviting broader enterprise and community participation to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
